Tentative Deal Reached

After 22 months of collective bargaining, the bargaining teams for community living services and general services have reached a tentative agreement with the Community Social Services Bargaining Association (CSSBA).

Further details regarding the timing of the ratification process will be known shortly.

*******************************

On June 22, the BC Labour Relations Board (LRB) ordered the organization representing Community Living employers – the Community Social Services Employer Association (CSSEA) – to cooperate to determine essential service levels. This will involve mediation and adjudication at the LRB, and should be finalized by July 22.
BACI has already come to an agreement with their union to protect most services as essential.  This would include the child-care programs and day programs for adults.  There will be no disruption of these services even if a strike is called.

For more information please read THE LETTER TO FAMILES and for ongoing updates please phone the information line for a recorded message: 604.292.1275 – last update June 11th.

The union can issue 72-hour job action notices anytime after the essential services levels are finalized.
