Building Support Networks for persons with disabilities: Families are welcome to come as a group (parent(s), sibs, support worker).
WHEN:         Saturday November 5th, 2011, 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM  * Come for coffee at 9 AM *
WHERE:       BACI Still Creek Center, 2702 Norland Avenue, Burnaby
                    (Corner of Douglas and Norland. Free parking.)
COST:           Free!  The workshop is supported by a grant from CLBC.
* Lunch will be provided by          the host agencies.*
REGISTRATION:  Last day for registration is OCTOBER 28th and we only have a few seats left.

BACI EVENTS:

BACI visits the Haunted Village: We had such a great time last year we are going again!
WHEN: Friday, October 28th.  Let’s meet on the deck outside the front entrance at 6:00 PM to enjoy the experience together.
WHERE: Burnaby Village Museum, 6501 Deer Lake Avenue (Canada Way and Sperling, just east of Kensington Avenue)
COST: The Family Services program has some funds to cover the admission for families, up to four members per family.  Please contact Sarah at sarah.baumbusch@gobaci.com or Carol Stinson at family.services@gobaci.com for more information or to register.

 

BACI Children’s Services Fundraiser:  Make your Christmas shopping so much easier by ordering your Purdy’s Chocolates on-line.  A portion of the proceeds will go to support children’s programming at BACI.
WHEN: order from now to November 10th for pick up at Still Creek Centre after December 6th

WHY:  It is for a good cause and this is soooo easy! No crowds, no parking, no hauling heavy bags around a mall. PLUS you get a card for 25% off of your purchases at the Purdy’s store on Kingsway for the next year.  I saved a bundle on my Easter Candy last year!

 

BACI Chinese Parent Support Group: Next meeting is November 5th, 6:30 PM, 7716 Royal Oak.  *Note* that because of the long weekend the meeting will be the first Saturday of the month.  Please see THE FLYER for general information and contact John Tsang for information on the speaker.
 
BACI Music Appreciation: Next Music on Mondays is November 7th, 6 PM, 7724 Royal Oak.  Please see THE FLYER for more information.
BACI Ball: A fundraiser to support BACI’s children services.  Gourmet sit-down dinner; live entertainment and dancing; live and silent auction; inclusion through innovation award ceremony.  Please see THE FLYER for more information.

The Community Living Show on Co-op Radio:  Lorie and David Sherritt and Friends will be talking about Woodlands. They will speak to their advocacy work and the demolition of the Woodlands Centre Block last week in New Westminster.

Burnaby Civic Election Debates: The Burnaby Inter-agency council is presenting two civic election debates.
School Trustees debate on building strong communities.

Mayor and Council debate social issues.

Parents of Youth with Disabilities Transition Group:  This parent group alternates their meetings between the east side and west side of Vancouver.  The first meeting is in October on the West Side and November on the East Side:

Family Support Institute Annual Trivia Night:  Trivia fans raised approximately $4,000 last year with your support.  The to make the 4th annual trivia night should be bigger and better with plenty of laughter, singing and fun!!   Carol Stinson is organizing a BACI team, so contact Carol if you would like join the BACI team (contact information is at end of this newsletter).  Please see THE FLYER for more information.
