BACI Family Programs continuing over the summer:

Building Connections: BACI’s Family Resource Drop-In.
WHEN: Third Saturday of every month, from 10:00 AM to Noon (Please see THE FLYER for the exact dates)
WHERE:7622 12th Avenue in Burnaby (childcare portable at 12th Ave Elementary) Music on Mondays: Will be continuing through the summer on Monday August 8th. Please see THE FLYER for more information.

UNTAPE: New posts include summer activity ideas and how to keep your kids safe on the internet – because you just know they will spend many hours on-line gaming and visiting social media sites over the weeks of summer holiday.

New Westminster City Council Votes to Demolish Woodlands Institution Centre Block Tower: BCACL Applauds New Westminster City Council for Respecting the Wishes of Former Residents of Woodlands by voting to demolish the last remaining structure from B.C.’s last major institution. Other Side Through You: Cat Main’s sister has cerebral palsy and “talks” with an alphabet board. With the help of a facilitator who holds her arms Cat’s sister points to letters on the board to spell out what she wants to say. The problem…not everyone believes her sister is the one communicating.

Ripple Effect 7: BCACL is hosting The Ripple Effect 7, a retreat for families supporting a child with special needs, coming October 14 – 16 2011. This fall’s retreat will be held at the Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort in the West Kootenays. The Ripple Effect is a chance for families to join facilitators from the BC Association for Community Living and other families from across B.C. for a FREE thought-provoking and educational retreat, exploring the power of advocacy and community development.
