Securing the Future: personal and financial planning for families – Last day to register for April 9th session is Monday April 4th. Our spring family education opportunity features two Saturday sessions on topics of great importance to families who have family members with a disability. You can attend one or both of the sessions. Because the sessions are being held at Still Creek we have lots of room so please pass this event information along to anyone you think could benefit.

City of Burnaby Social Sustainability Initiative wants to hear from you!The City of Burnaby is hosting a series of community meetings to hear the views of Burnaby citizens about the new Social Sustainability Intiative. DIGA Gardening Workshop: Besides hosting workshops, DIGA also has urban community garden plots available for people with disabilities who would like to garden. Some plots are raised and are wheelchair accessible.

The Vancouver East chapter of the “Parents of Youth with Disabilites in Transition” group is now in full swing! This is an information, networking and support group for parents of youth with disabilities who are transitioning to adulthood (grades 10, 11, 12). Hosted by families who have ‘been there, done that!’ There is also limited space available with a youth leader for childcare.

Tetra Society project could increase road safety for every person who uses a wheelchair: The “TetraLites” project tackles a particular vulnerability faced by any wheelchair user: Being lower than other pedestrians, motorists tend not to notice wheelchairs at intersections.
