Aware Share Care: Aware Share Care is a new website, developed by Community Living BC, to promote awareness and provide information, resources, and tools to support the best possible health care for adults aging with developmental disabilities.
Survey on Restraint and Seclusion in BC Schools: In 2013, Inclusion BC and the Family Support Institute became aware that children were being subjected to restraint and seclusion in school. The Ministry of Education was urged to take action to require documentation and reporting of all incidents. InclusionBC is asking parents/guardians to complete this 10 – 15-minute survey reviewing current practices. Responses will remain completely anonymous and will drive Inclusion BC’s ongoing advocacy to eliminate such practices while improving supports within our schools.
New Report on HandyDART services: The union representing HandyDART driver commissioned Eric Doherty of Ecopath Planning to write Metro Vancouver’s Aging Population and the Need for Quality HandyDART Service. The VANCOUVER SUN covered the release. The report is available HERE as a pdf.
Future Planning Tool: Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network introduces an online planning tool to guide you through the steps of planning for a good life, including financial security, personal network building, estate planning, housing choices and supported decision-making. The City of Burnaby Transportation Plan: The City of Burnaby is updating its Transportation Plan. The first phase of making the new plan is setting the Vision, Themes and Goals. People who live, work or recreate in Burnaby are being encouraged to fill in the on-line QUESTIONNAIRE or participate in IN PERSON SESSIONS. This is an opportunity to ensure accessibility and inclusion are foundations of City of Burnaby development.
